Travel Tips

Make reservations as fare in advance as possible to obtain lower fares and "early booking discounts", as well as increasing the chance of getting your preferred seats and accommodations at your chosen dates. Bay Travel always adjusts the final price of your leisure bookings whenever a sale or "special" comes up, so you may actually pay less than when first booked!

  • Request tickets early.  Prices are protected against fare increases only when tickets are actually issued.

  • Always use a credit card (rather than check or cash) to take advantage of the additional insurance – travel, luggage, and rental cars – which may be automatically included.

  • Avoid checking your entire luggage, and keep all important documents and personal items with you as carry-on in case your checked baggage is misrouted.  This way, you will have what you need for at least one night.

  • Arrive at the airport prepared, with your luggage properly identified and all your documents handy to make it easier to quickly pre-board and actually board the plane, particularly in winter.  You will find space for carry-on easier, and make it less likely that your seat may be resold if you are delayed.

  • Even carry-on items get left behind.  Leave a business card in your coat pocket, briefcase, purse, etc., to increase the odds of them getting back to you.

  • If possible, schedule travel to avoid peak airport times and complete all your business in one day to avoid the extra costs involved with a stay-over.
  • Combine business trips.  Several stops are generally less costly and less stressful than several trips.

  • Take advantage when hotels offer free amenities, such as breakfast or meal credits.  Also, when hotels offer personal amenities such as a hair dryer, shampoo, lotions, etc., you will be able to reduce your luggage accordingly.  You might want to pack instead that "special outfit"!

  • Know your company's policy regarding rental car collision insurance beforehand.

  • Refuel the rental car before returning it, even if you were not asked.

  • Use your Credit Card or ATM card rather than Traveler's Checks for the best exchange rates when traveling internationally.  International banking agreements are always standardized, and are especially important whenever a dispute may rise!

Servant Travel Co., Inc. wants your trip to be "worry-free" and pleasurable. Ask your Servant Travel Specialist for any additional Travel Tips that may apply to your reservation!
